The 3 Biggest Mistakes People Make On A Date And How To Avoid Them

Dating is a science and an art. It takes a lot to get two people to connect, create chemistry and build a relationship.

You can increase your chances of making a good match on your next date by avoiding these 3 common dating mistakes:

1. Talking Too Much

Most people make the mistake of talking too much about themselves, their pets, politics, religion or other controversial topics, their future together (really?! On a first date?) and their ex.  Just don’t do it :)

2. Treating The Date Like An Interview

Firing off a list of questions like a machine gun, trying to evaluate your date by the checklist you have tucked away in the corners of your mind, will cause a huge dating disconnect!

3. Rude Behavior

I heard about a man who told his date a matchmaker BEGGED him to go out with her client. His whole persona screamed “I’m doing you a favor by taking you out, babe.” YUCK!

I’ve also heard stories from women about how their date was rude to the waitstaff at the restaurant. They went from completely attracted to their date to never wanting to seem him again!

Showing up late or shutting down emotionally in the middle of the date can also be seen as rude behavior to the person who’s trying to figure out if they want to take the next step with you.

You can avoid these mistakes when you remember that the purpose of a date is to make a connection. Stay present and in the moment. Focus less on trying to be interesting and get interested in the person you’re talking to!
