When Your Dreams Get Put On Hold

I am amazed and saddened by the number of women I have met over the years who have placed their dreams on hold, or even worse, some who stopped dreaming all together. I am sad because I know firsthand the despair and frustration that this decision can create. There was a time in my life that I had placed my dreams on hold for so long that they were so deep under the cobwebs that I truly believed that they were no longer possible.

If you find yourself in a similar situation, I encourage you to reconnect with your dreams and take action today. Know and trust that God is no respecter of person. When He deposits a dream in your heart, He equips you with the wisdom, talent, and strength to accomplish it regardless of the circumstances you face. Now is the time to leave your excuses behind and take a step forward in faith. Understanding that you have to take action because God is not going to force you to dream, nor is He going to override your resistance to act on your dream. For some of you this might sound scary and overwhelming, but the fear that you feel now is nothing compared to the joy and sense of accomplishment that you will experience when you take the first step towards accomplishing your dream.

To help you move forward, I have provided some helpful guidelines below and a quick video above to get you started.

Guard your dreams and watch out for the dream slayers.

I’m sure you’re familiar with dream slayers. They are the ones who are full of negativity and quick to share with you the many reasons why your dream will not happen.

Feed your dream by speaking faith-filled promises found in the Word of God.

  • I am full of wisdom and knowledge (Romans 15:14).
  • I am complete in Christ (Colossians 2:10).
  • I believe I receive what I ask of God (1 John 5:14-15).

Pray about the direction, you should take concerning your dreams. Prayer paves the way for change and revelation. Find scriptures that support your desired outcome.

Resist the urge to limit your dreams to your abilities, knowledge, and wisdom. Trust God to reveal to you what you need to know and to bring people and resources to help you accomplish your dream.

Commit to accomplishing your dreams no matter what obstacles you encounter. Stay focused!

Reflection: What dreams have you put on hold? Why did you put them on hold? How can you work towards making them come true?
